any1 know if you buy an apartment in bulgaria,do the mafia demand that you pay them rent for u owning property

Was thinkin of buying an apartment in Bulgaria but was turned off when some one told me that you have to pay rent to the bulgarian mafia if you own property in their country, i dont know how true this is but seemingly they wreck the property if you try avoid them.
